Beheneth-25 is a polyethylene glycol ether of behenyl alcohol and a synthetic copolymer made from the ester of methacrylic acid and behenyl alcohol, along with one or more monomers of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid.
It serves as a texture enhancer and thickening agent in skincare and hair care products, providing aesthetic and sensory benefits by delivering a soft, smooth feel. In skincare, Beheneth-25 helps achieve a smooth skin texture, while in hair care, it aids in conditioning and detangling.
Beheneth-25 is a non-ionic emulsifier used to produce oil-in-water (O/W) cosmetic emulsions. It is suitable for use in alcohol and glycol-based formulations, clear shampoos, shower gels, and two-component hair dye systems (such as hair dye developers and perm neutralizers). As an anionic associative rheology modifier and stabilizer, it provides characteristics like a soft, non-greasy, non-sticky feel and is versatile for various formulations, including gels, emulsions, and clear solutions.
Its primary role as an emulsifier is to facilitate the formation of emulsions by combining the water and oil phases. Examples of cosmetic emulsions include creams and lotions. Additionally, as a rheology modifier, Beheneth-25 affects the consistency of cosmetic products by increasing their viscosity.
