Isopropyl Myristate is composed of isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid, a common, naturally occurring fatty acid.
Isopropyl Myristate is a low-viscosity emollient ester that is non-greasy and easily absorbed by the skin. Compatible with most oils, it provides a dry, velvety feel to formulations. It is often used to reduce the greasiness of lotion bars, whipped butters, and emulsions. Isopropyl Myristate is resistant to oxidation, preventing it from becoming rancid, and it also serves as an effective diluent for fragrance oils.
Small-molecule highly polar oils, personal care: used as skin penetrants and solvents for lipophilic active substances.
