Performance and Applications: PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate is an ethoxylated sorbitan monoester of Lauric Acid with an average of 80 moles of ethylene oxide. HLB value: 18-19.5 (gives oil-in-water emulsions).
PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate functions as an oil-in-water emulsifier and stabilizer for lotions and creams. As a non-irritating, nonionic surfactant, it offers anti-irritation benefits in mixed surfactant systems, effectively reducing the potential for irritation. This makes it an ideal co-surfactant for formulations requiring gentleness, such as baby baths and baby shampoos.
Compatible with both anionic and cationic surfactants, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate is particularly well-suited for combination shampoo/conditioner products.
It also aids in fragrance solubilization and viscosity control when used at levels ranging from 0.5% to 3%.
