Sorbitan tristearate is a triester of stearic acid and hexitol anhydrides derived from sorbitol.
Sorbitan isostearate is primarily used as an excellent dispersing agent for titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and other inorganic pigments.
A water-in-oil emulsifier, it has strong powder-wetting capabilities when used in combination with Span 83 (Sorbitan Sesquioleate) and Span 120 (Sorbitan Isostearate). It is suitable for sunscreen and foundation formulations.
Applications: Traditional water-in-oil (W/O) emulsifiers, used in lip care formulations and color cosmetics.
Use: Recommended usage: 0.5–5.0%. For external use only.
